‘Quiet Place’

Original Mixed Media Painting on Cradled Panel

This painting was inspired by the woodland at the House of Dun in Aberdeenshire. It was created with encaustic wax applied with an iron, oils, resins and vibrant metallic powdered pigments. The first image was taken outside in the sun so the colours look slightly more intense and warm compared to the images from the studio but I wanted to try and show the carved in details of the branches and some of the leaves. I also wanted to show the copper pigment and glossy finish of some of the branches.
